Classroom Happenings

First grade just finished up studying about Joseph and we are learning about Moses! We have already hid Galations 5:22-26 and Psalm 15 in our hearts so far this year! We are practicing how to be good friends and to support and encourage each other.

We have Grandparents’ Day and are so excited to spend the day with our very special grandparents! We made them a special gift and a card and learned Noah and the Zoo Cruise skit for them! We will end with a fun addition bingo game.

We just finished Red Ribbon Week. We had a poster contest and first grade won!!!! Our theme was Hands down to drugs..Hands up for Jesus! We had their sweet hand prints in red paint with their pictures on their handprint.  It was really sweet! We want to stay healthy so we can be our best for Jesus.

As we are approaching Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have a lot to look forward to. We have the annual Thanksgiving Feast where we will dress up as Indians and have a great meal together. Then we will get to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

We are continuing to work on fluency, comprehension and expression in reading. We are also working on special sounds and sight words. We just finished a unit on money and are working on adding 3 numbers and subtraction facts. In Social Studies, we are integrating a technology lesson to enhance our Seasons Unit. In Science we are working on how solids, liquids and gases change. We are also working on writing a topic sentence, 3 star sentences and a conclusion to make a paragraph.

We are off to a great start in first grade and are having lots of learning fun!!!
