First Grade Happenings

First grade has been learning Galations 5:22-26. We are hiding Gods word in our hearts that we might not sin against God. We are also learning about Creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Abraham and Isaac. We are learning  to obey our parents, teachers, and most importantly God. 

     We are learning our short and long vowel words. In addition we are learning many special sounds.  We love to read and are working on comprehension, reading fluency, inflectional endings, vocabulary and reading expression. We are also learning how to write great sentences and working on writing paragraphs using graphic organizers. We are working on making all our letters correctly and the correct size!

    Math covers a variety of concepts including word problems, addition, subtraction, place value, greater/less than, graphs and expanded form to name a few. We also do a daily math activity that lets the kids work at their individual levels. They challenge themselves to progress at their level.

    Science we are studying Solids, Liquids and Gases. We are learning about what a property is and how to use that information. Social Studies is all about Family and Community. We are working with calendars and maps.

   First grade is the BEST! The kids are eager to learn and are happy and engaged. We have a lot of learning fun.

Fun and Friends in First Grade!!!

Our FIRST lost tooth!!!

We lost our first tooth in first grade on September 5th!!!

First Grade is AMAZING!!!! We are holding up 1 finger to show we are in first grade and having a blast! Aren't we cute??
