There is never a dull moment in
our second grade classroom! Our science curriculum was enhanced by our trip to
the Discovery Science Center. The children especially enjoyed the bed of nails,
the earthquake simulator, searching for dinosaur bones, and shopping at the ECO
shop. In the classroom, we are learning to appreciate the awesome world of
plants that the Lord created.
In conjunction with Valentine’s
Day, we have been learning about the true meaning of LOVE by memorizing I
Corinthians 13:4-8. We are grateful to the Lord for His unconditional love for
us. The children have also been challenged through the faith of Elijah, and how
he was bold in standing up for the One, True God.
Math is always exciting as they
are striving to do their very best in their daily Timed Math tests. Each child
is working at their individual ability in multiplication and division. Counting
money has also been a practical and useful skill to learn.
In Social Studies, the class is
getting to know important people in history such as George Washington Carver as
well as Marie Curie, just to name a few. In English, we will continue to focus
on correct grammar usage as well as the basics of nouns and pronouns, so that
we can become effective communicators for the Lord.
Finally, the second graders are
thrilled about raising money for the Good Samaritan School in Zambia! It has
been a wonderful experience to think of others and giving sacrificially.
